What is irregular about traer
The yo form of the present is traigo, and -ig- runs through the present subjunctive: traiga, traigas, traiga. The preterite uses the stem traj- with unaccented endings and -eron in the third person plural: traje, trajiste, trajo, trajeron. The gerund is spelled trayendo and the participle takes an accent: traído. The future and conditional are regular: traeré, traería.
Conjugated the same way: atraer, distraer, contraer, extraer.
Common mistakes with traer
trajieron→trajeron
After the j of the preterite stem the ending is -eron, not -ieron, just as in dijeron.
traí, trayó→traje, trajo
The preterite does not take the regular -er endings; it switches to the stem traj-. The y appears only in the gerund trayendo.
Mañana traigo el vino a tu casa.→Mañana llevo el vino a tu casa.
Traer is bringing something to where the speaker is. Taking it anywhere else is llevar.
