What is irregular about hacer
Hacer is irregular in five places. The yo form of the present is hago, and that g runs through the whole present subjunctive (haga, hagas…). The preterite has its own stem hic- with no accent marks: hice, hiciste, hizo (z keeps the sound before o). The future and conditional are shortened to har-: haré, haría. The past participle is hecho and the tú command is haz.
Conjugated the same way: deshacer, rehacer, satisfacer.
Common mistakes with hacer
hico→hizo
Before o the letter c would sound like k, so the third person is spelled with z: él hizo.
haceré, hacería→haré, haría
The future and conditional drop -ce- from the infinitive: haré, harás, hará.
he hacido→he hecho
The participle is irregular: hecho. It is the same in every compound tense: había hecho, habré hecho.
When to use hacer
Hacer covers both "to do" and "to make", and it is the weather verb: hace calor, hace frío, hace sol. With a period of time it means "ago": hace dos años is "two years ago".

How to remember hacer
hacer[ah-SEHR] sounds like the English “ah, sir!”. Picture this:
“Ah, sir!” — the butler does everything: hacer — to do, to make.
A sound-alike plus a vivid scene is the keyword method: the sound pulls the meaning along. How it works.
